Regarding this:

I recently noticed this from a Postfix machine:

504 <wingspan>: Helo command rejected: need fully-qualified hostname

...Whatever feature this is in Postfix, it is the equivilant to our

BOFHCHECKHELO=1

Anyway, instead of using esmtphelo(5), could courierd(8) be told to use the result of gethostbyaddr(3) of the kernel-designated outbound interface?

This would be very helpful in multi-homed environemnts (where one interface resides within RFC1918 CIDR space)

SOURCE_ADDRESS= would also have to be taken into account.

TIA,

~BAS

Hi,

I was wondering if the esmtphelo file does the same thing that the masquerade_as tag does in sendmail?

I don't know what the sendmail "tag" does, but all that control file does is specify what Courier will provide in its EHLO or HELO command.
