Looks like Mandrake 8.2 and their cooker versions include that flag. I like using the source rpms for compatibility reasons. Hmm. Guess I will download the .tar.gz file and see what else is different.

You could extract all the files from the SRC RPM; edit the SPEC file, to remove that option; and rebuild the binary RPM. You wouldn't need a .tar.gz that way.
