Would it be too bad to remove it completely and rely on the charging information of the telco provider.
You do not get this information in Germany if you make a non-local call and use another provider than the German Telekom.
This will change, hopefully sooner than later. And i suspect that with this change a switch from unit-based billing to currency-based billing will take place.
