OK, that was the problem. What is wrong with having the UID not matching. Is
there some security issue?

Thanks, Rob

Rob Hutton writes:

I am trying to get maildrop set up with postfix in a virtual user/mysql environment. The setup is that the home directory is static, with 770 permissions, owned by maildrop/postdrop. All mail is beinge defered even though the directories are not world writable. Why does maildrop think that they are world writable?

This error message is also reported when the home directory does not have the correct ownership. That is, the uid/gid maildrop is invoked as does not match the home directory's uid/gid.
