Devin,

Thanks for clarifying that--I agree that support for types 2 and 3 would be useful for situations like yours, and it's something we plan to add in the future.

I should have been more clear that I was referring specifically to types 2 and 3 for pickup type and dropoff type. For example, MTS runs routes in the Rural areas which service some stops on request only as they are deviations off route of up to three miles. Currently, these stops are shown in our feed as regularly scheduled stops, but I'd like to tag them as call ahead stops in our next version, hoping that the stop bubbles will take this information into account sometime in the future.

Thanks,

Devin

The current extent of that field's use in Google Maps is to determine whether the rider can board and/or alight at that point in the trip. This is mainly useful in certain express services that have pickup-only or dropoff-only stops. This should be manifested correctly in the transit directions and the clickable stop bubbles. To be clear, values 2 and 3 ("call agency/coordinate with driver") currently have no effect in Google Maps. Do you have a particular use case in mind, Devin?

Does Google Transit currently take into account the Pickup/Dropoff Types in stop_times.txt? If so, does anybody have an example itinerary showing how it's used and displayed to passengers?

If it isn't currently used, are there plans to implement it? If so, I can provide testing data for the field.

Thanks,
