I've done some searching through the java user list and have not yet found what I am looking for. Apologies in advance if I have missed the information.

I have a java applet that needs to connect to a mysql database on the non-applet hosting machine. Where can I find options and how-to doc to accomplish this.

FYI: I can connect via a command line, non-applet stub from the web hosting machine to the database on the remote machine. I can connect from the applet when the database is running on the hosting machine.

After about 3 days of determined searching, maybe I should just pull over and ask for directions!
