I read this list, although I never had any answers given to questions I have raised. I think it is great you have come up with a guide!

I develop websites using dreamweaver etc. I havn't figured out how to do an import from a flatfile into mysql using the control center though......

I don't know how it's gonna get distributed because it seems no developers read this list. However, I can venture a guess: they'd probably want it to be in Docbook format. Google it, you'll find a dozen editing programs. It should be no problem to convert from sxw to Docbook.
