Generally, the "Root Folder Path" should be set to:

INBOX.

Also, storing the Special Folders on the IMAP server is a good idea.

and you can tick the "Check for new messages in all folders" box if you want all folders to be polled.

Are there any settings on the server to look out for or modify?

Setting:

# If you want to try out the IDLE extension, this setting controls how often # the server polls for changes to the folder, in IDLE mode (in seconds).

IMAP_IDLE_TIMEOUT=10

Or a different value, also helps.
