I understood from the documentation supplied with courierimap that netscape messenger, and to some extent pine improperly implemented imap4rev1 and therefore required the --enable-workarounds... configure option.

I did not enable the workarounds and I am attempting to use MS Outlook 2000, and I consistently get the error "Could not fetch new headers in the inbox... An unknown error has occurred...."

Does outlook also require the workaround?
