Hey Hiram -

The short answer is that at this time we are not going to support 64 bit Gears. However, we would love to see some contributors tackle this issue. If you could provide any help I know there are many other users that would appreciate it.

To our knowledge no one has looked an official 64 bit version. A good first step would be for you (or any community member) to see what changes are required to add 64 bit support. Then we can go from there.

If this is something you or any other 64 bit users are interested in, here are some resources for you: The contributors page: http://code.google.com/p/google-gears/

A post where a user got it compiled and working with Google Reader. Can you confirm whether this works on newer versions of Gears? http://groups.google.com/group/google-gears/browse_thread/thread/4584842dd14a4882/73c3de0f0f591099?lnk=gst&q=64bit&rnum=1#73c3de0f0f591099

Gears is not usable in 64bit environments, however with an increasing number of 64bit processors and good 64bit support in linux, 64bit support is wanted
