Actually the inability to import graphics IS new to V6.0 for Mac OS X. I have imprted lots of graphics (and still can) with V 5. The "format Popup" in V6.0 for Mac OS X does NOT include any graphics formats - period.

FWIW I did expode the graphic before trying to paint the sand box surface. But of course, the only way I can get a graphic into V6.0 is to first import it using V5. So who knows what get whacked in the translation:)

FWIW it is trivial to see this BUG in the Mac OS X V6.0. Just draw two parallel straight lines using V6.0. Move one up along the blue axis. Use the sand box tools to create a surface from these "contours". Then paint the resulting surface with any graphic image. For more fun try using two or more curved lines.

Hi,

Not sure what's happening with the GE snapshot, but the other two issues are easy to fix, and not new to SU 6.

When you're importing images, you have to select an image type from the "Format" pop up menu at the bottom of the file open dialog. You can either pick the exact image type you want, or you can pick "All Supported Image Types".

When you paint a texture map onto a Sandbox surface, you'll have best results if you use a projected texture. The easiest way to make one of those is to explode an imported image.

hope this helps! john .

I updated to SU 6 today and immediately discovered several problems before reverting to SU 5.

1 - Get Current View from GE says it puts the GE images in the right layers but when i made Layer 0 invisible, all of the GE images disappeared.

2- I could no linger import basic images ( jpeg, tiff etc.) only Skethup and ACAD files.

3- Using the paint tool to paint an image onto a surface created by the Sand Box 'from contours' tool produced very odd results -- the image was 'fractured' into a number of pieces that seemed to depend on the complexity of the surface. For example, painting a simple tilted plane split the image into quarters but not in the right sequence/orientaiton -- rather like a puzzle.
