Is this fix gonna be published soon now? This is a big limitation! :(
Thanks.

Hello Matt,
Yes, adding arbritrary universal gadgets from the "Add gadgets" dialog is temporarily missing in GD 5.
You can either run version 4.5 or wait for a fix to be released (which should be soon).
Cheers! James

I've been scouring the net trying to figure out the same thing. Version 4.5 of GDS works fine for adding universal gadgets, but it seems to be broken in version 5.

I can't seem to add aUniversal GadgetI'm working on to my Google Desktop. It shows up in my Google Home page and it syndicates just fine (i.e., embedding it on a non-Google web page). I followed the instructions for adding it to my Google Desktop, but when I click on the search button (after typing in the URL), nothing shows up.
It's on a public website, it's not inline, the URL is less than 100 characters and I can add other gadgets (though I haven't tried other Universal Gadgets), so I don't know what to try next.
Does a gadget need to be in the Google Gadget Directory before it can be added to the Google Desktop?
Here is the URL for the gadget spec (this is the URL I type into the gadget search box):
Any ideas? Thanks!
