Subject:Notes from 5/5 Xen-CIM call
From:Jim Fehlig (jfeh@novell.com)
Date:Fri, 05 May 2006 12:43:57 -0600

Attendees: Simon Gareth Jim Raj (Someone else from Unisys?)

Topics: Discussed concerns with storing state out-of-tree, e.g. in libvirt. All agreed that an in-tree tools stack needs to be defined. Ian and Simon will discuss architecture of the stack and present it to wider audience on a call scheduled for Tuesday May 9 at 7:00am PDT. One requirement we disscussed was ability to represent complete domain lifecycle including the off-line (or powered-off, disabled, shutdown) state. Must be persistent.

SVPC working group mof files are currently "DMTF Confidential" and cannot be shared with non-members. The xen-cim providers implement various profiles from the working group and use the corresponding mofs. We cannot include the mofs in public repository at this time. The issue has been brought to attention of DMTF and it appears we are paving a new road. Will push the issue with DMTF and we need to have our company DMTF reps to weigh in. For now, we can put documentation in repository containing a link to mofs at the DMTF website. Note that only DMTF members will be able to use the providers. Non-members could download and build the providers but not execute them without schema compiled into cimom.

Discussed progress of getting providers updated to latest SVPC working group profiles. Jim will start working on setting data classes. Raj is looking into computer system and its associations.

Regards, Jim
