I know that this is going to sound stupid (it certainly does to me, anyway), but can this "feature" be turned off, and if so, HOW? Follow up question: Can it be turned off for SPECIFIC accounts, or is the feature global in nature?

Patrick, take a look at the "bofh" section of the courier(8) manpage, I guess the parameter: opt BOFHBADMIME=action is what you need.
