Carefully document his processing expectations. I mean, if you rely on <foreignphrase> or <emphasis> or even <phrase> with (or without) a role attribute to give special presentation, write that down somewhere.
It'll save you hours of pain later when you give the document to someone else to process and they use some different tools.
