iarebarker,

This behavior is generally caused by Vista (which doesn't support OpenGL as did XP.) If your graphics card (and/or driver) also doesn't fully support OpenGL 1.5, then you can have a multitude of SketchUp display problems.

See these two discussion threads for workarounds:

http://groups.google.com/group/SketchUp3d/browse_thread/thread/03163b1d3b268716 http://groups.google.com/group/sketchupissues/browse_thread/thread/75f1ed12631f16bf

The ideal fix is updating the driver for your graphics card, if a new driver is available. If your graphics card is not OpenGL 3D capable, updating the driver won't help.

Regards, Taff

Hi, I've had this bug allot, this is how I fixed it: First; Window>Preferences>OpenGL>De-select 'Hardware Acceleration. Then; Close SketchUp>Right-Click on Icon>Properties>Compatability>Run in compatability mode for Windows XP.

well i re-intstalled the program and again it was alright at first, but it seems as though, after i close the program and open it again the problem persists. i am indeed running on windows vista... i did make sure before the first post that the display mode was set to shaded with textures with x-ray mode off. so i guess i will download this video driver you suggest in the other thread. or if you have any further suggestions they are very much welcome. thank you.- Hide quoted text -
