Ah? Who says that? What's wrong with the current Ant build? It's been working quite well for a while now, and is less painful to hack than the old crappy Maven 1 build.

Why wouldn't it be the same with other build tools, such as Gant or Graddle? What's inherently cool and awesome about either which would make the Groovy build worth switching to it?

We really faced the limits and pain of the crappy Maven 1 build back then. So there were real good reasons for switching. That said, we could've migrated to a nice modular Maven 2 build as well, but the bad rep. and experience with Maven made a flee away from Maven altogether. So does the Groovy build have a problem right now that cannot be solved cleanly by our current Ant architecture?
Change for change's sake is a bad idea.
Agreed.
Change where there is a genuine gain should be supported and fostered.
Hence why I'm asking for good arguments about that genuine gain. What is that genuine gain?
Currently we have members of the Groovy team who love Maven and those who abhor it. Everyone agrees Ant is like trying to program a payroll system in assembly language. It seems a third way is needed and we have two.
It's again more about feelings and sentiments than about real technical / practical reasons.
Again, I love both Gant and Gradle and find great value in them. I'd be happy to help you market these great projects and technologies, but I'm still failing to find a good convincing reason to make the switch.
