Subject:[courier-users] Unable to create a dot-lockActions...

My normal mail is being delivered so my mailbox perms must be Ok.

from=<#@[]>,addr=<markc@markc>,size=7432,success: Message delivered.

I understand these ones above are essentially generated by MAILER-DAEMON. Is this correct ?

from=<>,addr=<mar@renta.net>: /usr/bin/maildrop: Unable to create a dot-lock.

Two questions here:

From what source do "from=<>" messages come from ?

Where on my file system would that lock file not be able to be created when perms for my Maildir are OK ?
