Hi Nicholas,
It sounds to me like your first floor slab is actually below the ground plane in SketchUp. If you select the entire model and move the bottom of the first floor slab to the origin point, or even with the Green axis, the extraneous shadows should go away. Alternatively, you can follow the steps below to turn off ground plane shadows:
1. In SketchUp go to the "Window" menu. 2. Select "Shadows". 3. In the "Shadows" settings dialog, deselect the "On Ground" option.
This will remove the shadows being cast on the ground plane. I typically only like to have things below the ground plane if they are truly below the ground plane ( like basements), so I recommend the first method. It's entirely up to you how you proceed though.

I'm having a problem with my trees casting shadows in SU 6 Free version. My trees are components that I made in another file and ported in, but when I start casting shadows, they cast the regular shado, plus an opaque grey shadow on the same plane as my first floor slab. I was wondering if I had something set to the wrong setting, but I've been playing around with it and I can't seem to make the shadows cast normally. It gets especially bad when I trun my leaves on.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks, Nicholas bell
