New to maildrop; so my excuses. I did make a few searches on google and read maildropfilter.

Here it goes: I want some users to get their mail into mbox(es) and others into Maildir. Directly after installation - if I'm not mistaken - I verified that the users without .mailfilter got their mail into mbox. Now, to my dismay, this isn't the case any longer. The users with .mailfilter get it correctly, but the users without don't.

postfix/local[17307]: 27949197: [...], relay=local, delay=3293, status=deferred (temporary failure. Command output: /usr/local/bin/maildrop: Unable to open mailbox.

maildropfilter says:

"Predefined variables

The following variables are automatically defined by maildrop. The default values for the following variables may be changed by the system administrator. For security reasons, the values of the following variables are always reset to their default values, and are never imported from the environment:

DEFAULT

The default mailbox to deliver the message to. If the filter file does not indicate a mailbox to deliver this message to, the message is delivered to this mailbox. The default mailbox is defined by the system administrator. "

How would I redefine the Default ? As far as I understand, /etc/maildroprc would be default for everyone (take precedence).

How to go back to mbox as default for users without .mailfilter ?

Thanks for any hint,

Uwe

P.S.: Using maildrop-1.5.3 with postfix-2.0.18. on OpenBSD 3.5
