Subject:[courier-users] SMTP problems...Actions...

I just manage to install Courier on my box (my previous error was fixed by doing `apt-get install g++`), but I can't get the smtp server working properly - or so I think..

I wanted to test local delivery so I stopped my sendmail and imap etc, started courier (after enabling smtp, pop3 and imap daemon) - pointed my Netscape SMTP server to localhost and tried to send mail to michael@localhost but I got an error from the SMTP daemon (Syntax Error - check recipients and try again). Isn't that supposed to work? How can I fix this? I want to use courier as local SMTP server for my fetchmail and procmail (will be changed to Maildrop once I converted my .procmailrc to Maildrop's format), and outgoing SMTP when I use Mutt.

PS Sam, would you be very angry if I hacked Courier so the queue was in a NFS/share safe format so it can share queue? If so I could make it so that you need to #define something to get it in that stage. DS
