Please correct me if I'm misunderstanding what you're saying here, but.... The solution I provided (changing the MySQL properties in Services) is permanent, as you require. The service properties are maintained by Win2k and remain even if you restart your system. So you put the option in once, and that's it.

We host hundreds of MySQL databases, and allow access to them via phpMyAdmin. safe-show-database is essential, especially for our hosting clients who choose to install their own copy of phpMyAdmin.

Understood. Still, the solution should work. Do try it (put in the option, restart system, and check... just to put your mind at ease)
