BCS CMSG Conference & Exhibition 2003 Implementing CM Everywhere Change, Configuration and Content Management
The British Computer Society Configuration Management Specialist Group (BCS CMSG) Conference and Exhibition will be held 24 & 25 June, 2003, at Homerton College in Cambridge, UK. The conference will bring together managers and practitioners working in Change, Configuration and Content management.
*************************************** We invite you to participate in the Conference. Our theme is "Implementing CM Everywhere" ? emphasising the growing need for change, configuration & content management to underpin and support a wide range of activities in almost every organisation.
There are many challenges we face in managing configurations and content with the explosion of e-commerce, delivering and maintaining large scale complex systems, and reducing costs. In addition we must work effectively together with others in our organisations and not neglect our own professional development.
We welcome all our speakers who will be sharing their real life experiences. Callum Kidd (director of programmes for the Centre for Project management at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology) and Bob Ventimiglia (Director, SCM Evangelism, for Merant, Inc.) will kick the conference off with some of the latest thinking and ideas for implementing CM everywhere. Luc Lobel (TesCom's VP in charge of CM services worldwide) proposes an interesting model for CM and return on investment. There are several streams to cover interests such as content management, managing large complex systems and some sessions for the less experienced on Selecting CM tools, and Configuration Management basics.
On the second day we have some excellent speakers led by Ren? Schaap (European coordinator of SCCM within the SQS Group (UK, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Netherlands) with an interesting title of ?The Dark Side Of Configuration Management?! He will cover the hot topic of how to sell configuration management. Mark Cartwright (who heads up the Service Management group within Business Critical Services at Microsoft)will talk about how change and configuration management are key processes to help deliver Operational Excellence ? something all of you in IT services will be keen to hear.
We would also like to give a warm welcome to all our exhibitors and hope that you will take advantage of speaking to them during the conference.
Shirley Lacy (CMSG Chair) Michael Kennedy (Programme Chair) Robert Cowham (Conference Organiser)
