I am new to MaxDB and clustering. It seems that both products provide enterprise features and high availability. Is clustering replacing MaxDB?

No

What are the difference between them?

MaxDB is designed for running the database for SAP applications. MySQL Cluster is a set of MySQL processes connecting to a cluster of data processes.

Are they targeting different users?

MaxDB SAP users MySQL Cluster, high availability and scalable performance

Thanks.
