------------------------------------------------------------------- WS-Federation 1.2 becomes OASIS Standard
Members have approved version 1.2 of the Web Services Federation specification
as an OASIS Standard. WS-Federation extends identity management to enable
federations of trust across organizations. Congratulations to the TC co-chairs,
Chris Kaler of Microsoft and Michael McIntosh of IBM, and to all TC participants
including representatives of Active Endpoints, CA, Nortel, Novell, Red Hat,
Skyworth TTG, SOA Software, TIBCO, VeriSign, U.S. Veterans Health
Administration, and others for this accomplishment.

------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Standard vote opens soon for three WS-DD specifications
Balloting for versions 1.1 of the SOAP-over-UDP, Web Services Dynamic Discovery
(WS-Discovery), and Devices Profile for Web Services (DPWS) specifications will
be held 16-30 June. The specifications were developed by the Web Services
Discovery and Web Services Devices Profile (WS-DD) TC, which includes
representatives of Foundational Sponsors, IBM and Microsoft, and Sponsors, CA,
Novell, Progress Software, Red Hat, Ricoh, Software AG, and others. All
organizational members of OASIS are encouraged to vote on these specifications;

------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Standard vote opens soon for IMI 1.0
Balloting for version 1.0 of the Identity Metasystem Interoperability (IMI)
specification will be held 16-30 June. IMI aims to allow users to manage their
digital identities as "Information Cards" and use them to access online
services. The specification was developed by representatives of Foundational
Sponsors, IBM and Microsoft, and by Sponsors, CA, Novell, and others. All
organizational members of OASIS are encouraged to vote on IMI; those who wish to

------------------------------------------------------------------- Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) 1.2 public review begins
CAP is a simple but general format for exchanging all-hazard emergency alerts
and public warnings over all kinds of networks. Developed by the Emergency
Management TC, CAP allows a consistent warning message to be disseminated
simultaneously over many different warning systems, thus increasing warning
effectiveness while simplifying the warning task. This public review ends 27
July.

------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS IDtrust seeks Steering Committee candidates
Nominations are open for three seats on the OASIS Identity and Trusted
Infrastructure (IDtrust) Member Section Steering Committee. IDtrust promotes
greater understanding and adoption of standards-based identity and trusted
infrastructure technologies, policies, and practices. All Member Section
participants are invited to nominate qualified candidates before the 15 June
deadline.

------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Blue Connect addresses standards for Smart Grid
A new conference, OASIS Blue Connect, will premiere 9 and 11 June in Santa
Clara, California. The event will investigate how existing standards for
eCommerce, security, emergency management, building automation, Web services,
and SOA can be applied to the Smart Grid. OASIS members receive a 10% discount

OASIS will host a track at the European e-Identity Management Conference in
London on 25-26 June. Mary Ellen Callahan, the new Chief Privacy Officer at the
US Department of Homeland Security, and Kim Cameron, author of the 'Seven Laws
of Identity', will present, along with OASIS IDtrust members and other speakers.
