I've been using the following bofh entry for a long time:

freemail hotmail.com microsoft.com msdn.com

Recently, I've been receiving reports that some hotmail messages are getting blocked. The log messages below show that:

Mar 23 16:31:35 indra courieresmtp:

id=00100996.44233DD5.000072B2,from=<loca@example.com>,addr=<some@hotmail.com>,size=33424,status:

success Mar 23 17:10:51 indra courieresmtpd: error,relay=::ffff:64.4.19.87,from=<some@hotmail.com>: 517-Sender rejected: some@hotmail.com can be accepted only from Mar 23 17:10:51 indra courieresmtpd: error,relay=::ffff:64.4.19.87,from=<some@hotmail.com>: 517 hotmail.com's mail relays.

I assume that this has something to do with the ipv6 address, since I've had similar problems with ssh.

No.

Probably a temporary error in one of Hotmail's DNS servers.

It's been happening for months for messages from specific hotmail users (possibly all -- I only track the ones who I know personally and complain to me), it's definitely not a temporary-resolve issue (especially since you replied to a similar message like this from me in 2004 and said that the temporary-resolve issue would be fixed). The issue in 2004 wasn't related to ipv6, though.
