You probably want to support Google Gadgets, since opensocial apps will be written as google gadgets in general.

Once the Data APIs firm up, I wonder if this is true. I see a lot of correspondence between the Twitter API and the Data APIs and Twitter has spawned a *lot* of purely external Apps and Mashups.
