Prior to version 0.50 couriermlm was case sensitive. Perhaps the person has configured a different mail address (in terms of case) than it was subscribed with?

With recent version of courier you can configure if couriermlm should be casesensitive of not. But be carefull when changig this setting of an existing list, see man couriermlm.
