In your example above it looks like you have a space just after the :
I don't that is a valid URL. We have had ads disapproved because the
display url linked to a non existing page, but that was just with a
regular display url without wildcard.

I am not sure about the necessity for the display URL to actually to
lead to a page. Is this enforced by Google? I can see that the
destination URL should point to a valid page, but the display URL could
be anything that optimizes the visual appeal of the creative. For
example, a lot of the bigger users of AdWords who buy lots of keywords
will append the keyword to the display URL so that it appears in bold
and therefore is more eye-catching to the user.
