If this doesn't help, move "mysql_config" out of your path, the configure-script is still buggy (mysql_config-output overrides all configure-parameters at commandline).

Hint: mysql_config will tell configure the wrong include-directory. Or, on the other hand: include "mysql/mysql.h" is wrong ;)

SAM?!

What? authmysql builds fine against mysql 3.23.26

If mysql-config is found, then it will be used, since in theory it's supposed to produce the right options.
