I noticed you mentioned instant saxon -- this is compiled as a windows executable and always runs against the Microsoft VM installed on the machine (regardless of the Sun JRE installed). From the saxon site:

----- Note that Saxon performs considerably better using Sun JDK 1.3 than using the Microsoft Java VM, so for production use, the full product should be downloaded. From version 7.0 onwards, Instant Saxon is no longer available, because Saxon now requires JDK 1.2 or later.

----

You can get the full version 6.5.1 (the recommended version) from

http://saxon.sourceforge.net/#F6.5.1

Then (assuming the jars are in your classpath) you can run the processor with

java com.icl.saxon.StyleSheet

which should get you started.

Hello Jeff,

I installed JRE 1.4.0 and put the bin directory in my path (is that enough?).

C:\>java -version java version "1.4.0" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0-b92) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.0-b92, mixed mode)

I'm still getting the same error...

Error at xsl:copy-of on line 211 of file:/n:/xml/t/docbook-xsl-1.48/html/table.xsl: Exception in extension function java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: java/lang/Float:method parseFloat(Ljava/lang/String;)F not found Transformation failed: Run-time errors were reported

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Thanks,

I would strongly suggest getting the latest from Sun and installing it. Go to http://java.sun.com/ and download the Java Runtime Edition version 1.4.0. They have a good version for Win2K that I've been using without this sort of problem

"more recent version of Java VM"

Java VM, ehm, that is %winnt%\system32\msjava.dll on Win2K... Right?

I'm using the latest version: 5.0.3805.

Using instant saxon 6.5. and saxon65.jar from docbook-xsl-1.48.

Please help,
