Actually, it's very useful if you're dealing with a large number of mail domains. Imagine you were hosting 25 mail domains, and there was a "jason@..." in each one of them. You would either have to have users authenticate using their fully qualified address as their userid, or you would have to give each user a unique userid that didn't match their e-mail address (which can be really confusing). Logging in with your full e-mail address is the less of two evils there.
Glad I could help.

I like this solution much better than having users log in with their entire email address -- who wants to be bothered with that?
Thanks, Jason.

Oh, I almost forgot... another possible fix for you is to create the file $COURIERHOME/etc/defaultdomain and simply put in the domain that you want to use. SqWebMail will read that when the user logs in...

I got this working using "hosteddomains". The only thing is that the user has to login using a User ID like "us...@domain.com" instead of just "user".
Check out the docs on "hosteddomains"... it may be what you're looking for.

Hi,
I'm wondering if any other folks have run into this situation:
Courier is running on server "serverX.domainY.com" that delivers locally for email domain "emaildomainZ.com." New account is created for a user. User logs in to the SqWebmail interface. User hits the "Create Message" link. Email composition screen pops up with From showing " 'User Name' <us...@serverX.domainY.com> "
If the user erases that address and manually types in
us...@emaildomainZ.com, that address will pop up in the future each time they hit the "Create Message" screen. While I think I understand why I'm seeing this behavior, this isn't what I want to happen.
Is there some sort of configuration that can be done so that " 'User
Name' <us...@emaildomainZ.com> " is read in and displayed by SqWebmail from the get-go? It's going to confuse people if they have to erase the "bad" email address and then type in their "good" email address....
