I am very keen on exploring this concept. But we will have to
watch WebDriver closely. If you look at this blog here:
http://raibledesigns.com/rd/entry/last_night_s_selenium_users
Towards the end under "Simon Stewart on Web Driver" it says:
"Soon there won't be a WebDriver project ... because it will be part of
Selenium!"
I don't know what that means for projects wanting to integrate with
it directly rather than via selenium.
I've seen the video of this meeting and for me it looks like version 2
of Selenium will have more to do with current WebDriver than with
current Selenium (not really a surprise).
Have a look at this discussion
http://groups.google.com/group/webdriver/browse_thread/thread/8c4097a7cf97ecd9
in WebDriver mailing list. Simon Steward (WebDriver lead) writes "One of
the things that the Selenium developers found attractive about WebDriver
was its API. I'm keen to keep it clean and as free of clutter as possible"
Cheers,
Marc.
