I get your point, however, reports of NICs malfunctionning or stuff like that are pretty distressing when running frontend firewall boxes.

Seeing 9.0 doesn't bring much to the table, imo, in terms of firewalling and CARP novelty, I'm probably going to stick with 8.3 for some time :)
