Thank you for the links...
I'm now working on this project as I'm comfortable with javascript and GD_SDK, so I'm stuck (and I'll be stuck again later) on the httpXmlRequest... I'm following the sample (that comes with the SDK download) for the request and feel that format works for me. I also have reviewed the code in the verizon page on both the login page and the page that opens to show the meter I'm wanting to put in my gadget. So here are my questions (and please excuse repeating my questions and that they may seem simple but this is a great resource.)
1. Using a checkbox to "Remember Me", how do I enable my gadget to remember my login information (based on my preference). Example... checkbox on the main form labeled "Remember Me" is checked, then the information I login with will be already inserted on the next time I open the gadget. I know how to add the values to the text boxes based on the checkbox, my problem is saving the information's value from each use and setting it to null when the checkbox is false.
2. Logging on with httpXmlRequest... using the sample I've got a good handle on creating the request, but I do not know how to pass the values of the login to the webpage's login.
3. How to parse the page that loads to get the object I want to display. I can send what I cut out of the verizon page's login and loaded page for the user name/password fields and the graph's information.
Sorry this seems long but I will definately appreciate the help. If you want to work with me one on one, feel free to send me an e-mail and I'll share my project openly with whoever would like to help.
Thank you, Zachary D. Skelton

There is an iGoogle Gadget Editor which can be found
here.http://code.google.com/apis/gadgets/docs/gs.html#Scratchpad
For URL based iGoogle gadgets there is no need to use an IDE, as all
you are changing is one line in the code.

Thanks, I'm really liking all of these links... I'm not to the level of developing a desktop application that will do what my original question asked but knowing it's possible will make me try, and that's the fun of amateur developing, challenging yourself and finding a way to do it... I have not made an iGoogle gadget yet, although learning about that is what led me to the desktop applications. The thing that made me go after desktop applications was having IDE, as I've learned VBA in MS Office and Visual Basic in Visual Studio, I find it easier to teach my self using an IDE so I can place objects and manipulate them. For iGoogle Gadgets, is there an IDE I can work with offline on my desktop?

Hey Zachary,
If you want to just show a webpage in a gadget, without any additional
formating, you can use an igoogle
gadget.http://code.google.com/apis/gadgets/docs/fundamentals.html#URL
Make and host an xml file with that information
ex:http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/101340583225497570559/ver...
You can then add this gadget to Google Desktop by typing the URL into
the "Add Gadgets" box.
There is no way to scroll (you can only see more of the page by making the gadget bigger), but since the information you want is in the upper corner, it shouldn't be a problem. Best regards, Glenn

Are there any gadgets that do similar actions to what I described earlier? I'd like to have a template to look at to start this project.

Good reply... I'm still learning but as this is a project I have in mind when I get a good handle on the developing I'm happy to have those resources.
