Do you have more info? ping your databaseserver from your webserver. What is the round-trip-time? Do you run on 10/100/1000Mbit ethernet?

We're on gigabit with LOW latency...

www3:~# ping db1 PING db1 (10.0.0.6): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 10.0.0.6: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=0.1 ms 64 bytes from 10.0.0.6: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.0 ms 64 bytes from 10.0.0.6: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.0 ms 64 bytes from 10.0.0.6: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.0 ms

So thats not the the problem....
