Hi!
I think I will add the following message to InnoDB if innodb_data_file_path is not set:
"If you do not want to use InnoDB tables, add a line skip-innodb to the [mysqld] section of init parameters in your my.cnf or my.ini. If you want to use InnoDB tables, add for example, innodb_data_file_path = /mysql/data/ibdata1:20M More information on setting the parameters you find in the manual."
I have several such long error messages in InnoDB.
Regards,
Heikki

Yeah, that's right. I've bought the book after more than a year of using MySQL, so I didn't need help w/ installation, but there's lots of good tips sprinkled here and there.
Warning: it doesn't cover mysqld-max, which was introduced very recently. It didn't exist when the book was published. I know Paul DuBois is on this list; Paul, do you plan to publish a new, enhanced edition?
