I got stuck in the same place ("no mysql.h"), and when I tried to install mysql-devel-3.23.36-1.i386.rpm I received:

only packages with major numbers <= 3 are supported by this version of RPM error: mysql-devel-3.23.36-1.i386.rpm cannot be installed

Hoping I had downloaded a bad package, I tried the file you mentioned and got the same message.

RedHat 6.2 # rpm -q MySQL MySQL-3.23.36-1

Any ideas would be appreciated. Jack

Hi!!

I think you haven't installed mysql's "Libraries and Header files for development (i386)" which you will able to download from

http://www.mysql.com/Downloads/MySQL-3.23/MySQL-devel-3.23.48-1.i386.rpm

I'm trying to install the Perl Mysql DBD for use with the Perl DBI.

I've tried using the CPAN module install Bundle::DBD::mysql but this failed with an error message of "can't find mysql.h". I'm installing onto Suse Linux 7.1 with Perl 5.6.1 that I compiled from source.

I would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks

Darren
