You are probably using an authentication module where you specify each account's mailbox directly.

I guess that may be, though I still cannot find documentation that tells me that usage of userdb precludes using maildrop.

I'm using authdaemon with authuserdb. I've got virtual users, so I have userdb entries like this:

joe.@someplace.net home=/home/vmail|mail=/home/vmail/someplace.net/joe.schmoe|systempw=$1$4NRTXcFc$P5b2WEwxQ2azpoZm1COT.|gid=105|uid=105

Is there any way to use userdb and get maildrop-like (or at least "xfilter"-like) functionality ran on the inbound mail ?
