Hi all,

and thx to Sam that always finds time to reply to our weird questions:DDD

How does your hypothesis deal with the sql server being down?...

crashing...saving it into the rule file? the file is inserted into an exception {} statement, so if something goes wrong the message will be delivered unfiltered in the inbox

How does your hypothesis deal with other messages being delivered at the same time you're installing a new rule file? Whad do they do? What locking mechanism do you intend to use, in order to guarantee atomic rulefile updates?

2 hypotesis: 1) the .sql_mailfilter file will be re-created only if the one on the filesystem is older than 10 minutes

2) the filename is mktemp .sql_mailfilter.XXXX that will be removed after the delivery of the file

This is one of those things that looks great on paper, but not so great in practice.

anyway, other ideas/approaches on how to implement per-user-filter configuration are *really* welcome!

Thanks to all, R.
