Pallavi

I had a similar problem, and modified the vsstop4 script to work with a preexisting depot (and put into a specified sub-directory of the depot).

My copy with the modifications is available on Public Perforce Server (public.perforce.com/guests/robert_cowham).

Try it out on a test depot first.

Let me know if you have any problems.

Hi,

I have been reading the messages on this group and found them very informative. I Hope to get an answer for the following problem that I'm posting..

I'm currently working on a renewal effort of our source control system(RCS and VSS). Part of our developement code is on RCS (Linux based source code) and part is on Visual source safe(for windows based source code). We are tryng to replace these two systems with a single Version control system. we picked perforce because of its features and its cross platform functionality.

We are actually going to share the Perforce server within our organization used by a different division. So the perforce server is already populated.I know that there are certain warnings posted on the perforce website against using Conversion.pl script (from VSS to perforce) on a populated depot. can any one tell me if there is any safe way of running such script on an already existing perforce depot? As is

the case with rcstoperf script. If we run it across a populated deopt what are the chances that conversion will be successfull vs ending up in a big trouble.

Can anyone please provide me with more information on this?

Thank you very much for your time. ********************************* Pallavi Kalapatapu Terayon Corporation 2952 Bunker hill Lane Santa Clara, CA, 95054 (408) 845 5954 **********************************
