I'm now in the post-installation checks phase, but I'm a little lost. The installation guide says:

Log on to the test account and run |maildirmake| to create two maildirs: |maildirmake $HOME/test|, and |maildirmake $HOME/bounces|.

But I'm not sure I understand what that means? Does that refer to a new user account? I ran maildirmake but I don't see that any directories (or files) were created anywhere.

What you want to do is this:

First, log on to your test account. This could be your current account or an account created just for testing Courier. Don't use the root or courier users.

Next, run these two commands: maildirmake $HOME/test maildirmake $HOME/bounces

This should create the 'test' and 'bounces' directories (and associated maildir structures) in your home directory. You can then continue with the testing instructions.
