I hate comparing with others, but most IMAP servers have already implemented CONDSTORE/QRESYNC.

I think that courier-imap is missing this key feature. Implementing this will really improve overall performance.

Can this feature be added to the todo list or roadmap ?

Well, sure. But this is really the first I've heard of it. You're the first one to ask.

Well, there's always a first time :-)

And it's my impression is that not just this, but in general, IMAP and email overall are in a slow decline.

I don't think so. People are using different tools/software but emails are still heavily used and will. I think that people (admins will help them!) will move from fat client (outlook, thunderbird...) to web based applications. And this is why CONDSTORE/QRESYNC would really improve accessing mailboxes.

I'm not a C developer, so if courier-imap devs are willing to implement this, I can test (and may be debug).

Over here, we use thunderbird but mainly IMP(Horde) for emails.

Ronan.
