Did you check to see if the NT account the Perforce service is running
under also has write access to your z:\journal file? (Control panel |
services | perforce service | startup)

I'm running perforce as a service on Windows NT.
My server was running fine when the journal was
being written to the server root.
I permanently set the P4JOURNAL system variable
to an empty file a mapped drive -- z:\journal
I shut down the service with 'net stop perforce'
and restarted it in a new Command Prompt:
net start perforce
The journal was still being written to the server
root.
So I restarted my machine. Now, when I run any
perforce commands, such as p4 info, I only get
the following message:
open for write: z:\journal: Access is denied
I can access and edit the (empty) z:\journal file
from my machine, but perforce apparently cannot.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
