I had to set this an actually it is a setting in the server side mysql config file like this: set-variable = max_allowed_packet=16M

This for me is in the my.cnf on Linux, but depending on the OS and config it may need to go into another file.

I'm getting packet too big exceptions and it's set to 2M in mysql so I'm assuming I need to set it for JDBC somehow.

Anybody point me in the right direction?
