I had to set this an actually it is a setting in the
server side mysql config file like this:
set-variable = max_allowed_packet=16M
This for me is in the my.cnf on Linux, but depending
on the OS and config it may need to go into another
file.

I don't know where to look in any documentation
about setting the
max_packet_size variable...
I'm getting packet too big exceptions and it's set
to 2M in mysql so I'm
assuming I need to set it for JDBC somehow.
Anybody point me in the right direction?
