I'm also receiving a similar smarty class re-declaration error when attempting
to install Eventum.
Have looked through the FAQ and Install notes as well as googled to see if I
could track down the problem. Here's what I've tried & checked so far:
1. PHP modules
2. PHP error display turned on for the install & Eventum running (config.inc.php
in setup & Eventum main directories)
3. require_once changed to include_once on install config file
(class.template.php)
4. PHP.ini auto_prepend_file & auto_append_file are blank
5. PHP.ini magic_quotes params are all Off
Apache, MySQL, & PHP are installed & have been running fine for some months.
Environment is: XP Home/SP2 Apache/1.3.33 (Win32) PHP/4.4.0 MySQL 4.1
It appears that the database is properly constructed, but setup.config.php in
the main directory appears empty when I look at it after the install process.
Install also displays the following error:
Notice: Constant SMARTY_PHP_PASSTHRU already defined in c:\program files\apache
group\apache\htdocs\Eventum\include\Smarty\Smarty.class.php on line 52
Notice: Constant SMARTY_PHP_QUOTE already defined in c:\program files\apache
group\apache\htdocs\Eventum\include\Smarty\Smarty.class.php on line 53
Notice: Constant SMARTY_PHP_REMOVE already defined in c:\program files\apache

Notice: Constant SMARTY_PHP_ALLOW already defined in c:\program files\apache
group\apache\htdocs\Eventum\include\Smarty\Smarty.class.php on line 55
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class smarty in c:\program files\apache
group\apache\htdocs\Eventum\include\Smarty\Smarty.class.php on line 61
Not clear to me where the redeclaration is coming from as I've not installed
Smarty in building any other web app.
Anyone there have any ideas? I'd like to try the system, but unfortunately this
is blocking my attempts.
Thanks, B. Campbell
