Hey all
Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
Tony's suggestion of using fam-2.7.0 worked and the log is no longer filling up with those errors.
It's certainly not an issue with my machine being 64-bit.
Thanks everyone for the help once again!
This list is great. With helpful people in the Linux community I cannot see why Microsoft's dominance of the OS market can be broken eventually.

*No-one* I've ever seen on this list has ever said that Red Hat's sgi_fam has actually worked for him/her, in fact the opposite.
That's probably because people don't write in "Hey, FAM is working, how can I fix that?"
People occasionally have trouble with fam and gamin, but that doesn't mean that they don't work. I've run Courier on a number of Red Hat releases, and have never had a problem with fam.
I also don't have any 64-bit machines around, and I'm starting to wonder if that's Jonathan's problem, or if he has some other thing going on like a custom kernel, or IMAP_USELOCKS=0 in imapd. Would that cause sgi_fam not to work?
