getmail has getmailrc and I run it as root.
Yes but you tell that you use 'qmail' as your 'MTA' and you 'need' an
'rc' file to start 'qmail-start' ;-)
I don't get this too. I am using getmail, which does not use qmail for
downloading mail unlike fetchmail. It downloads mails and dirctly
store them in users Maildir.
With fetchmail you have more then one option to deliver the mails ;-)
As getmail does not require a SMTP, where do I use maildrop.
Does you have 'read' the getmail doc?
http://www.qcc.sk.ca/~charlesc/software/getmail-2.0/docs.html#docs
http://www.qcc.sk.ca/~charlesc/software/getmail-2.0/docs.html#delivery-targets
I don't use getmail, yet, but how about:
in the '[default]' section:
postmaster = '|$PATH_TO_MAILDROP/maildrop'
Also, PLEASE PLEASE tell me where to get docs about this so called
filtering language of maildrop.
To start:
http://www.courier-mta.org/maildrop.html
or
man maildrop
man maildropfilter
man maildropex
I have a feeling that procmail docs are more extensive and simpler.
extensive yes.
Simpler no.
Ihmho
set spoolfile=~/Maildir/
set mbox_type=Maildir
It is enough?
Yes if you don't want to change the Dirs ;-).
I want to learn but I get ANGRY when filter (read procmail/maildrop)
and email clients (read mutt) get more difficult than the server (read
qmail).
It a system where one need the other an therefore you must configure
all to use it as you wish ;-)
And I don't know how to use it with getmail.
Hth
al ;-)
