Sam,
I switched over to shadowauth, same results. I imagine that I'm doing something very wrong, that I've missed a big step someplace. I've assumed that using authpwd or shadowauth would automatically include all users on the system for mail delevery. Is this assumption wrong?

Hi all.
I've downloaded and installed the full version of courier, done the config as best as I can tell, got the webadmin working just fine and finally got through the postinstall scripts.
I'm using authpwd only for authentication. I can send emails from an external addy with out them bouncing. However, using the webmail feature it continues to tell me that any of the users I've tried (my account, mailtest account) don't exist or have bad passwords. I'm sure I've just overlooked something in the docs but I'm kind of stumped with :
1. how do I config courier for existing system users or any users for that matter?
2. is there a cli commmand to check mail (mail, mailx)?
3. when I go to replace my existing surgemail server (this is being done on a test box) how I can port, archive or move the existing emails over to the courier install?
I followed /var/log/mail for both login attempts and mails that should be coming in and it just sits there. I'm not seeing any log files that I can tail -f to check for errors as they are happening... Where are the main log files?
Thanks for any help, I'm sure I'm just being bone headed.
Stu

You probably need to use authshadow instead of authpwd.
