Find and read README.maildirquota, which is part of the source distribution. That should give you all the clues you need :-)

Wow! I thought it would be easy to track down the exact reference. It's well buried. The maildirquota man page doesn't even provide a link to the information.

The section on Maildir Quotas at the bottom describes the format.

Unless I'm much mistaken, the same syntax applies to entries in the MySQL quota field. I'll have to do this soon myself, so I'll need to figure it out too, but this is my understanding. Sam, is this correct?

This should be the same. I know it is for the userdb format and I can't think of a good reason why it would change for MySQL.
